千种中国菜的“英文名”公布 面向全国征集意见 |

“ScrambledEggwithTomato”(西红柿炒鸡蛋)、“EggplantswithGarlicSauce”(鱼香茄子),明年1月底,北京市餐饮饭店中的数千种菜品、酒水将拥有统一规范的“英文名”,这是记者19日从市民讲外语活动组委会获悉的。据了解,北京市首次针对餐饮菜单规范英文译法的工作目前已基本完成,数千种菜品、酒水的英文翻译将从12月20日开始对外公布,邀请市民参与补充建议。 近年来,北京市很多酒店都推出了外语菜单,但由于地域及饮食文化的差别,不仅缺乏统一规范而且语法差错也让外国客人看不明白。为更好地迎接奥运会,北京市规范公共场所英语标识工作领导小组办公室和市旅游局今年3月至5月联合对星级饭店、星级餐馆菜单英译开展了核查工作,北京市外办、中国对外翻译出版公司组织专家对菜单译文进行了审核、分类、统一。现已初步完成《北京市餐饮业菜单英文译法》(讨论稿)的编写工作。 等待市民评判补充的北京市餐饮英文菜单涉及冷菜、热菜、羹汤、主食、小吃、西餐、甜品、中国酒、洋酒、饮料等多个品类,数千种菜品酒水,仅饮料目前已搜集到的就有200多种。北京市餐饮菜单的英文译法计划在明年1月底推出,届时不仅北京市旅游局计划向全市星级酒店餐厅推广,而且还将为计划推出双语菜单的餐饮企业提供参考。 为确保该菜单英文译法的全面性与准确性,从今天起至本月29日,市民讲外语活动组委会将邀请社会各界及在京外籍人士对《北京市餐饮业菜单英文译法》(讨论稿)提出宝贵意见及建议;同时,也希望市民将菜单中尚未整理到的菜名、酒水、饮品等内容进行补充。市民可以登录首都之窗(www.beijing.gov.cn)、市民讲外语活动官方网站(www.bjenglish.com.cn)、市旅游局官方网站(www.bjta.gov.cn)或新浪网查询详细情况。并可通过电子邮件将建议和意见发送至或邮寄至市民讲外语活动组委会办公室。(记者刘昊)(来源:北京日报) 网友对此次译名部分意见(来源:北京市民讲外语网bbs) pengzhun: 菜单的译法看了一些,很不满意。这个译法的指导原则有错误,导致翻译后的英文菜名更像是菜品的英文说明,而不是一个产品的名称。对这次英文菜单翻译工作的组织程序我保留意见。建议每道菜品有个简短的英文名称,考虑到外国人不了解菜品的原料,单独给出菜品的英文说明。这样才能更好的弘扬中华文化,也才能更好的为外国游人提供便利。 ricky3200: 菜名翻译一直是个难题,即要有中国特色,又不能太欧化,还要让外国朋友一看就明白,挠头啊! wangduyu: 最好的办法,除了英文菜名之外,每个菜名都必须附上照片,再加以简短的方案说明主料。这样,可以消除很多的误会,特别是在服务员的英文也不是很灵光的时候。所以,除了翻译方法之外,菜单中的内容也应该要求统一,必须包括照片一张、五个关键词(就象写论文一样)。当然,这样的菜单制作的成本高一些,但是我想也高不了太多。 samxxz: 翻译出来的东西是给老外看的,目的是让人家能懂,对吧?那些家喻户晓的菜名,比如宫保鸡丁、麻婆豆腐之类,就沿用人家的习惯不好吗?一定要一副秦始皇统一度量衡的架式就太自以为是了。到国外的中餐馆找些菜单来参考参考吧。 摘录《北京市餐饮业菜单英文译法》(讨论稿)部分中国菜的英文译名:
